GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Sound Biologics, located in the greater Seattle area, is a clinical stage biotechnology company focusing on the creation of innovative technology and novel therapeutics to better serve patients with cancer, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

Sound Biologics is seeking analytical development and characterization scientist to participate in the R&D activities from preclinical studies, process development, through GMP production and IND filings. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated scientist to contribute experimentally, as well as intellectually, in advancing our mission in a supportive, but fast-paced team setting.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS, MS, or PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a similar discipline, with 7+ years, 5+ years or 1+ years of related biotechnology industry experience, respectively.
  • Fundamental understanding of analytical chemistry/separation science and protein biochemistry.
  • Good experience in UPLC, HPLC, CE-SDS and/or cIEF method development and pre-qualification; biologic sample testing and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in biologics formulation is preferred.
  • Experience in LC-MS (e.g., TOF or QTOF) for protein characterization is a plus.
  • Excellent in data analysis, technical writing, and presentation.
  • Good project management skills and troubleshooting skills within area of expertise.
  • Good work ethic; accountable and motivated to achieve individual and team goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work on design, execution, and implementation of experiments for analytical method development, formulation, and characterization under general direction.
  • Provide HPLC, CE-SDS, cIEF, and/or LC-MS support to protein/mAb engineering, preclinical studies, process development, formulation, and stability studies.
  • Support analytical method development and transfer; support formulation development and transfer; and support extended characterization of biologics.
  • Write technical reports, communicate findings, and participate in scientific discussions for efficient knowledge management and regulatory filing support.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations of project results to others, including large and diverse audiences.
  • Mentor junior members in analytical techniques and method development.
  • Write/contribute different technical reports including method development reports, sample testing reports, and regulatory filing reports.
